SMETA audits
Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA) combines auditing best practices in the field of corporate social responsibility. The Sedex Stakeholder Forum creates and routinely updates the auditing criteria to fit developing social and environmental needs. The methodology is based on the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) Base Code. SMETA’s four pillars are Labor, Health and Safety, Environment and Business Ethics. The audit guidelines check for performance in all four of these focus areas.
12 Ashland sites have completed the Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) on the SEDEX platform and have data available to share. 6 of those sites have had 4-pillar audits conducted by an independent third-party auditor approved by SEDEX. This data is available upon request through the SEDEX platform as well.
