klucel ls™ low-substituted hydroxypropylcellulose

The developers of hpc now offering klucel ls™ low-substituted hpc

Klucel ls™ low-substituted hpc is a multifunctional binder and disintegrant that has several benefits and applications in oral solid dosage forms.

In the early 1950’s the world welcomed the first transistor radio, the first car with power steering, and the first non-stick cookware. Perhaps less known to the world, but equally as important, a water-soluble polymer was also discovered, a technology so versatile in nature that its inventor, Eugene D. Klug, would spend the next two decades in the laboratory at what is now Ashland searching for and finding novel applications.

Klucel™ hydroxypropylcellulose (hpc), the polymer which would bear his name after an application was filed with the United States Patent Office in 1951, formed the basis of a new generation of oral pharmaceutical dosage forms and the scientists at Ashland continue to innovate and develop new hpc products to meet the needs of the pharmaceutical industry.

Ashland is now offering klucel ls™ low-substituted hpc to address our customers’ desire to de-risk their supply chain by having more than one longstanding global leader supplying low-substituted hpc. Ashland knows hpc because they invented hpc and they are the only supplier with both low and high substituted hpc products.
